Description

The Tanglewood Crossroads TC8 is a compact parlour-style acoustic guitar with a warm mahogany voice and a vintage-inspired Whiskey Burst Satin finish.

It is a good choice if you want an acoustic that feels comfortable to hold, easy to sit with, and a little more characterful than a standard dreadnought shape. The parlour body gives it that smaller, more intimate feel, while the all-mahogany body helps keep the tone warm, woody and focused.

It is simple, traditional and very playable — exactly what a small-bodied acoustic should be.

What Does It Actually Sound Like?

The TC8 has a warm, mellow acoustic sound with a clear midrange.

Because the top, back and sides are all mahogany, the sound leans more towards warmth and body rather than bright, glassy sparkle. That makes it especially nice for fingerpicking, blues, folk, songwriting and relaxed strumming.

It will not have the huge low-end boom of a larger dreadnought, but that is not really the point of a parlour guitar. The strength here is comfort, clarity and a more direct, rootsy acoustic tone.

Why Choose a Parlour Guitar?

Parlour guitars are great if you want something smaller and more comfortable than a full-size acoustic.

The compact body makes the TC8 easy to sit with, whether you are practising at home, writing songs, playing on the sofa or taking it to lessons. It also suits players who find larger acoustic guitars a bit bulky or uncomfortable.

Despite the smaller body, it still has enough projection for practice, small sessions and unplugged playing.

Who Is It For?

The Tanglewood TC8 is a good option for beginners, folk players, blues players, singer-songwriters and anyone who wants a comfortable small-bodied acoustic guitar.

It also makes sense as a second acoustic if you already own a larger guitar and want something smaller with a different character.

If you need built-in electronics for live performance, this model does not include a pickup or preamp. But if you want a simple acoustic parlour guitar with a warm mahogany tone, the TC8 is a very appealing choice.

Not Sure If This Is the Right Guitar?

The TC8 is a good choice if you want a smaller acoustic guitar with a warm, vintage-style sound.

If you want a bigger, louder acoustic with more low-end, a dreadnought or jumbo may suit you better. If you need to plug into an amp or PA system, look at an electro-acoustic model instead.
