Description

Yamaha YV-3910 Vibraphone – 3.5 Octaves with Gold Mirror Finish Bars

The Yamaha YV-3910 is a professional 3.5 octave vibraphone for advanced players, universities, conservatoires, orchestras, jazz departments and serious percussion setups that need more range than a standard 3 octave instrument.

It has an extended C–F3 range, aluminium alloy tone bars with a gold mirror finish, matching gold resonators, a height-adjustable frame and Yamaha’s YVM300 Pause-memory controller. The extra lower range gives the instrument more depth and flexibility, while the professional motor system gives players proper control over vibrato speed and fan position.

This is a specialist vibraphone for players who need a serious concert instrument, but do not necessarily need the full size of a 4 octave model.

What Does It Actually Sound Like?

The YV-3910 has a full, clear and projecting vibraphone tone with extra warmth and depth from the extended lower range.

Compared with a standard 3 octave vibraphone, the lower C gives the instrument a broader musical voice. That makes it useful for advanced jazz voicings, contemporary percussion writing, theatre work, orchestral parts and repertoire where a normal F–F range can feel limiting.

The aluminium alloy bars give a clean, singing tone with smooth sustain, while the gold mirror finish gives the instrument a strong concert look. The graduated 39–57mm bar width helps keep the response balanced across the full range, so the low notes have body and the upper register stays clear.

Why Choose the Yamaha YV-3910?

The main reason to choose the YV-3910 is the extra range.

A standard 3 octave vibraphone is enough for a lot of school and ensemble work, but advanced players often need more. The YV-3910 extends the lower end down to C, giving you 3.5 octaves while still keeping the instrument more compact than Yamaha’s 4 octave YV-4110.

The YVM300 Pause-memory controller is another key feature. It gives variable-speed motor control from 25 to 145rpm and helps the fans stop in a memorised position when paused. That helps avoid sudden changes in volume when moving between vibrato and non-vibrato playing.

The frame is height adjustable from 86cm to 94cm and is designed to be disassembled into smaller sections, making transport and storage more manageable for a professional-level vibraphone.

Who Is It For?

The Yamaha YV-3910 is ideal for advanced vibraphone players and institutions that need more range than a standard 3 octave vibraphone.

It is a strong choice for universities, conservatoires, professional percussion departments, jazz courses, theatre pits, orchestras and specialist music schools. The extended C–F3 range gives players more harmonic depth and repertoire flexibility, while the gold mirror finish gives the instrument a proper concert appearance.

For a serious percussion department, this is a long-term professional instrument rather than a basic school vibraphone.

Not Sure If This Is the Right Vibraphone?

If you are comparing Yamaha vibraphones, the YV-3910 sits between the standard 3 octave models and the larger 4 octave YV-4110.

The YV-3710 gives you a standard 3 octave F–F3 range. The YV-3910 extends that down to C, giving you 3.5 octaves. The YV-4110 gives the full 4 octave C–C4 range.

If you need extra low notes but want to avoid the size of a full 4 octave vibraphone, the YV-3910 is a very strong option.
