The Vater Sizzle Fusion is a clever hybrid between a standard drumstick and a small hard felt mallet. One end gives you the familiar attack and definition of a Fusion-style wood tip stick, while the other gives you a hard felt mallet head for cymbal swells, tom colours, suspended cymbal rolls, timpani-style effects and softer percussion textures.

It is the sort of stick that is especially useful when you need to move quickly between sounds without putting one pair down and picking another pair up.

What Do They Actually Sound Like?

The stick end gives you a clear, bright and focused attack, especially on cymbals. The round wood tip keeps the sound articulate without being too heavy or clumsy, so it still feels natural for drum kit playing, theatre work and general percussion parts.

Flip it around and the hard felt mallet end gives you a warmer, smoother sound. It is not a big soft orchestral mallet, so do not expect huge fluffy cymbal rolls. It is more compact and controlled than that — great for quick swells, cymbal colour, tom builds, suspended cymbal parts and places where you need a mallet sound without changing tools.

The smaller mallet head is also designed so it does not get in the way of your grip when you are using the stick end, which is important. Some stick/mallet hybrids feel awkward. These are much more practical.

These are ideal for theatre percussionists, pit players, school percussionists, worship drummers, function players and anyone covering more than one type of part from the same setup.
