Mushroom Covers TPS Symphonic Timpani Covers are padded covers designed to protect strutted timpani in sizes 20", 23", 26", 29" and 32".

They are made for schools, orchestras, music services, percussion departments and venues that need proper day-to-day protection for timpani when they are not being played. Timpani are awkward instruments to store and move, and the kettle, struts and playing head can easily pick up marks if they are left uncovered in a teaching room, rehearsal space or store cupboard.

What Are They Actually For?

These covers are designed to protect strutted symphonic timpani during storage and normal day-to-day use.

They help protect the timpani head, bowl and strutwork from dust, light knocks and general contact. That makes them useful in schools, concert halls, percussion stores, rehearsal rooms, theatres and hire departments where instruments may be moved around or stored alongside other equipment.

They are not hard flight cases, so they are not designed for heavy transport protection. They are padded timpani covers for practical everyday protection and storage.

Padded Protection

Each cover is fully padded with 8mm foam.

That gives the cover more substance than a thin dust cover and helps protect the drum from normal handling marks and light impact. The cover has a full drop of 61cm / 24", giving coverage down over the kettle and strutwork rather than only covering the playing head.

This is especially useful for percussion departments where timpani need to stay protected between rehearsals, lessons and performances.

Easy Size Identification

Each cover includes the drum size number for easy identification.

That is a small but very helpful feature if you have multiple timpani covers in the same store room. It makes it easier to match the right cover to the right drum quickly, especially when packing away after rehearsals or concerts.

Compatibility Note

The TPS Symphonic Timpani Covers are designed for strutted timpani from brands including Adams, Bergerault, Ludwig, Majestic, New Premier from 2020 onwards and Yamaha.

For Premier Elite timpani, the TPSE model should be used instead.

If you need full hard transport cases for touring, these may not be enough on their own. But for everyday protection, storage and rehearsal-room use, the Mushroom Covers TPS covers are a very practical option.
