Mooer Free Step Wah and Volume Pedal
Safe and secure checkout
The Mooer Free Step is a compact wah and volume pedal designed to give guitarists two useful functions in one sturdy expression-style unit.
It combines a vintage-style analogue wah sound with smooth volume control, making it a practical choice for players who want to save pedalboard space without losing control over expression, filtering and dynamics.
You can use it as a wah pedal, a volume pedal, or both together, depending on how you set the mode switch.
What Does It Actually Do?
In Wah mode, the Free Step works as a wah pedal, using Mooer’s custom inductor and a side-mounted Q Range control so you can adjust the character of the wah sound.
You can activate the wah in two different ways. The foot sensing mode lets you turn the wah on by placing your foot on the sensor pads, then turn it off by removing your foot. Or, you can use the more traditional toe-down switch method if you prefer the classic wah pedal feel.
In Volume mode, it works as a smooth volume pedal, allowing you to control your level without adding extra fuss to your rig.
In Wah & Volume mode, it acts as a volume pedal by default, with the wah effect available when activated using the toe-down switch method.
Useful Side Controls
The Free Step has a few simple controls that make it more flexible than a basic wah pedal.
The Q Range dial lets you adjust the wah tone, so you can move between different wah characters depending on your guitar, amp and playing style.
The MIN VOL control lets you set the heel-down minimum volume between 0% and 50%, which is handy if you do not want the pedal to cut your signal completely when backed off.
Who Is It For?
This pedal is a good choice for guitarists who want wah and volume control from one compact pedal.
It suits rock, funk, blues, worship, ambient playing, lead guitar, rhythm swells and general pedalboard use. It is especially useful if you want the expression of a wah pedal but also need a reliable volume pedal for swells, fades and level control.
If you only need a traditional full-size wah with no volume function, a dedicated wah pedal may suit you better. But if you want one pedal to cover both jobs, the Mooer Free Step is a very practical option.

Not Sure If This Is the Right Pedal?
The Mooer Free Step is a good choice if you want both wah and volume control from one compact pedal.
If you need only a traditional wah pedal, a dedicated wah may be simpler. If you mainly need volume swells and do not use wah, a standalone volume pedal may be enough. If you want both functions without taking up too much pedalboard space, the Free Step makes a lot of sense.
