Description

This is one of the more distinctive snares from Mapex’s Black Panther range – the original Cherry Bomb 13" x 5.5", finished in a deep Transparent Cherry Red lacquer.

The slightly smaller 13" diameter gives it plenty of crack, sensitivity and definition, but it still has enough body to work really well as a main snare. The cherrywood shell adds a warm, rounded character underneath the attack, making it a very versatile drum for rock, pop, funk and general live use.

This particular example is ex-display and in very good overall condition. The lacquered shell presents beautifully and the chrome hardware is nice and clean, with only very light signs of handling and display use. Please have a good look through the photographs for the overall cosmetic condition.

This is the original Cherry Bomb model, rather than the later Design Lab version.

What does it actually sound like?

Punchy and lively is probably the easiest way to describe it. The 13" diameter gives you a quick, focused crack with plenty of sensitivity, while the cherrywood shell keeps things warm and full underneath.

Tune it higher and it cuts through a busy mix brilliantly. Bring it down a little and there is still plenty of body there for a smaller-diameter snare.
