EKO One Resonator EQ Electro Guitar – Sunburst
Safe and secure checkout
The EKO One Resonator EQ is for players who want that unmistakable resonator sound without spending vintage-instrument money.
It has the look and feel of a classic resonator guitar, but with a modern, practical build that makes it easier to live with. You get a spruce top, laminated Sapeli mahogany back and sides, a mahogany neck, South American Roupana fingerboard, a metal resonator cone, and an EKO mini-humbucker pickup with simple volume and tone controls.
In other words, it gives you the bite, bark and mid-range character you expect from a resonator, but with the option to plug in when you need more volume.
What Does It Actually Sound Like?
A resonator guitar is not meant to sound like a normal acoustic. That is the whole point.
Compared with a standard acoustic guitar, the EKO One Resonator has more attack, more mid-range push and a shorter, drier sustain. It has that slightly metallic, rootsy sound that works brilliantly for blues, slide, country, bluegrass and traditional American-style playing.
The spruce top helps keep the sound clear, while the laminated Sapeli mahogany back and sides add warmth and body. The metal resonator cone gives the guitar its distinctive projection and character — punchy, direct and full of personality.
It is especially good for fingerpicking, slide parts, quick arpeggios and anything where you want the guitar to cut through with a more percussive edge.
Plugging In
The built-in EKO mini-humbucker gives you a simple way to amplify the guitar without needing to put a microphone in front of it.
You get volume and tone controls, so you can adjust the output quickly depending on the amp, PA or recording setup you are using. The pickup sits well with the character of the instrument, especially for bluesy lead lines, slide playing and folk-style rhythm work.
It is not trying to turn the resonator into a normal electro-acoustic. It keeps that characterful resonator voice, just with a more practical output for live use or recording.
Who Is It For?
This is a great choice for players who want to explore resonator sounds for the first time, or for guitarists who need a more affordable resonator-style instrument for blues, slide, folk, country or bluegrass.
It would suit acoustic players looking for a second guitar with a very different voice, electric players who want something rootsy and raw, and songwriters who want a guitar that instantly pushes them into a different style of playing.
If you want a smooth, lush, modern acoustic sound, this probably is not the guitar you are looking for. If you want something with grit, attack and a bit of attitude, it makes a lot more sense.

Not Sure If This Is the Right Guitar?
A resonator guitar is a very different thing from a standard acoustic. It has more bite, more attack and a more characterful mid-range sound, but it will not give you the big, warm, rounded tone of a dreadnought or grand auditorium.
If you are into blues, slide, country, bluegrass, folk or roots music, this is exactly the kind of guitar that can open up new sounds. If you mainly want a normal all-round acoustic for strumming pop songs, you may be better with a standard acoustic or electro-acoustic instead.
If you are unsure whether a resonator is right for you, get in touch and we will help you compare it with the other options.
