Description

The Dunlop Formula 65 Polish & Cleaner is one of those guitar-care products that every player should probably have somewhere in the case, drawer or workshop.

It is designed to clean, polish and protect the clear-coated finish on your guitar or bass, helping to remove the usual build-up of fingerprints, dust, grease, sweat marks and general playing grime. If your guitar is starting to look a bit dull or cloudy, this is a quick and easy way to bring the finish back up without turning cleaning into a big job.

It comes in a handy 118ml spray bottle, so it is easy to keep on the bench, in a gig bag or with your other guitar maintenance bits.

What Does It Actually Do?

Formula 65 cleans and polishes in one step.

Spray a small amount onto a soft cloth, wipe it over the finished surface, then buff it back with a clean part of the cloth. It helps lift away dirt and grease while leaving the guitar looking cleaner and more presentable.

It is particularly useful around the body where your arm rests, around the pickguard area, and anywhere fingerprints build up. On glossy finishes, it can make a guitar look much fresher very quickly.

This is not a deep repair product, and it will not remove dents, chips or heavy scratches. Think of it as regular guitar care rather than restoration. For everyday cleaning, shop stock, customer instruments, school guitars and regular players, it is a very useful bottle to have around.

Where Should You Use It?

This is intended for finished guitar and bass surfaces, especially clear-coated gloss finishes.

Avoid using it on unfinished wood, raw fingerboards, open-grain timber, or any surface where the finish is delicate, damaged or unknown. If your guitar has a satin, matte, relic or specialist finish, test carefully in a small hidden area first, as polish can sometimes change the appearance of non-gloss finishes.

For fingerboards, strings and hardware, Dunlop makes other dedicated care products. This one is mainly for the finished body and clear-coated areas of the instrument.

Who Is It For?

This is a good choice for guitarists, bassists, teachers, schools, shops, repair benches and anyone who wants to keep instruments looking tidy.

It is especially useful if you handle a lot of guitars, clean instruments before photographing or selling them, or just want your own guitar to look a bit smarter after rehearsals and gigs.

If you only clean your guitar occasionally, one bottle should last well. If you are maintaining shop stock or school instruments, it is the sort of product you will probably reach for all the time.

Not Sure If This Is the Right Cleaner?

If you want something for the glossy finished body of your guitar or bass, this is the right kind of product.

If you need to clean strings, condition an unfinished fingerboard, polish metal hardware, or deal with a matte/satin finish, you may need a different product. Always check the finish first, and test carefully on a small hidden area if you are unsure.

If you are putting together a basic guitar-care kit, this pairs well with a soft polishing cloth, string cleaner and fingerboard conditioner.
