The S1 Pro+ is Bose's most capable portable PA — a self-contained speaker system with a built-in 3-channel mixer, up to 11 hours of battery life, and enough output to handle gatherings of up to 50 people. It's the kind of system that works equally well for a singer-songwriter at an outdoor acoustic set, a DJ at a garden party, a busker who wants to sound properly professional, or anyone who needs real PA-quality sound without a van full of equipment.
It's also just a very good portable Bluetooth speaker if that's all you need it for — but the 3-channel mixer, ToneMatch presets, and wireless accessory compatibility make it considerably more versatile than that.
The Mixer
Three channels means you can run a playlist from your phone via Bluetooth, a microphone through Channel 1, and an instrument through Channel 2 — all at the same time, all independently controlled. Each channel has its own volume, treble and bass adjustment, and Channels 1 and 2 also have access to ToneMatch presets and reverb — so you can dial in a vocal sound or instrument tone that actually suits what you're doing rather than just turning up and hoping for the best.
The OLED display on the unit shows your settings clearly, and it rotates automatically when you change the speaker's orientation — a small but genuinely useful detail.
Wireless Accessories
One of the most useful additions on the S1 Pro+ over its predecessor is the ability to add wireless RF transmitters for microphones and instruments, sold separately. The transmitters pair quickly to the system and store inside the speaker itself when not in use, so you're not carrying a separate bag of wireless kit around. It removes one of the most common complications of a portable PA setup — cable management — and makes the whole thing considerably faster to get up and running.
Four Positioning Options and Auto EQ
The S1 Pro+ can be placed vertically on a table, tilted back on the floor as a monitor, mounted on a standard PA stand, or used in monitor mode on stage. Each position changes the way the speaker projects sound into the room, and the Auto EQ feature senses the orientation and adjusts the EQ automatically to optimise performance for that position. It's one less thing to think about when you're setting up quickly.
Battery and Portability
11 hours of battery life covers most gigs, events and sessions comfortably, and the battery charges from a mains lead in around 5 hours. The unit weighs 6.5kg and has a built-in carry handle — so it's genuinely portable rather than just technically portable. Aluminium and polypropylene construction keeps it robust enough for regular use and transport.
The Bose Music app gives you full wireless control of the mixer from your phone, access to the complete ToneMatch presets library, and Bluetooth connection management. Bluetooth 5.0 with a range of up to 9 metres.
