Bamboo: 36.5cm | Core: Cork and Textile 25mm. Kalfo | Head: 33mm | Weight: 32-34 grams (grip included)
As Co-principal timpanist of London Symphony Orchestra, this line of mallets has
been designed to create a wide array of colours that will have the player covered for
nearly any performance venue. Each pair of mallets in the line is unique and has
been designed with the concept of not needing to bring many mallets to the gig, just
a few that will cover most performance situations.
These mallets are extremely versatile, designed for timpanists who might play in a
variety of venues and programs.
They are adaptable to both calf and plastic heads. The felt models have a hard felt
core with relaxed felt wrapping, creating a dark spectrum of warm sound that comes
straight from the core. They have been designed with the weight of the sound in
mind, so that the player doesn’t have to work hard to achieve a large, full sound. The
shafts are made of carbonised bamboo, which is achieved by exposing the cane to
extreme heat to remove the humidity. This results in lighter shafts that create a
brighter sound and have a quicker response.
This line of mallets avoids the need for the performer to change sticks frequently
during performance, encouraging the musician to think more about how they are
playing the instruments (technique, playing position, grip, etc) instead of what mallets
they are going to use.
